STORY #1
A client asked us to check the electrical system due to a hard start condition. We found the battery to be weak and suggested that we replace the battery. The client agreed and the work was done. Several days later, the customer called us and proclaimed in an angry voice that after we replaced the battery, the water pump failed, and what were we going to do about it?
STORY #2
We had a truck come in with a rod knocking. The client complained that another shop had just installed a new engine. He did not trust them and wanted us to estimate the cost to repair the engine. We told him about $2500. He thought the price was high (of course). We began to question him about the other shop. Our angle was to have him go back to the original shop and get the engine fixed under a guarantee. We soon found out that the other shop was the dealer and the engine was replaced under warranty about 12,000 miles ago. We told him to go back to the dealer and make sure he had the service history since the engine was replaced. He asked, what service history is needed. We told him, oil changes, etc. The client got mad and said, "What!!!?? You mean the oil has to be changed now too? How unreasonable!"

A mass merchandiser of cheap retail parts asked one client, "Is your Honda the electric or hydraulic starter model?" I told my client to answer with, "What does the crank sticking out of the front bumper do?"
